The ws-station service does not seem to access all the stations that are available using mda or mds.
For example for station BAR network CI:
This URL returns data
http://www.iris.edu/mda/CI/BAR
and this URL does not
http://www.iris.edu/ws/station/query?level=channel&net=CI&sta=BAR
For example for station BAR network CI:
This URL returns data
http://www.iris.edu/mda/CI/BAR
and this URL does not
http://www.iris.edu/ws/station/query?level=channel&net=CI&sta=BAR

Hi Doug,
There is a relationship between a network definition and the stations belonging to it that is tripping up ws-station but is not used in other services. For your particular example the issue is that the CI network code is marked as starting in 1950 but the metadata for station BAR includes a start time of 1932. We have now identified all such cases, not many at all, and will be fixing them up shortly. Thanks for reporting this.

Chad,
Thanks for the information. If you are interested, by sometime tomorrow I will have finished running a program that compares the results of querying mds and ws-station for all the stations we use from IRIS.
