IRIS consists of five core programs:
Data Management System (DMS)
The DMS is charged with long-term archiving and distribution of all IRIS-generated data.
Education & Outreach (E&O
The Education and Outreach program develops and implements programs designed to enhance seismology education in the classroom and for the general public.
Global Seismographic Network (GSN)
The GSN is a state-of-the-art, permanent, global digital seismographic network consisting of more than 150 stations. The GNS provides free, real-time open-access data through the IRIS DMS.
Program for the Array Seismic Studies of the Continental Lithosphere (PASSCAL)
PASSCAL operates a pool of over 1,000 portable seismic instruments that are available to the research community.
United States Seismic Array (USArray)
USArray is the seismic and magnetotelluric component of the EarthScope experiment, an earth science program that is exploring the structure and evolution of North America.
